Welcoming Sam Ropp and Susan Tousi to Atrandi

Single-cell biology is entering a new phase. Not an incremental one – a structural one. The questions researchers are now asking require tools that can hold more than one dimension of biology at a time, across thousands or millions of cells, without sacrificing resolution. Atrandi's patented Semi-Permeable Capsule (SPC) technology was built for exactly that – combining the flexibility of well-based workflows with the throughput of droplet-based systems, enabling scientists to perform bulk-like molecular reactions at single-cell resolution across diverse experimental designs. A new class of single-cell infrastructure. And today, we are taking the next step in bringing it to the world.

Two people who have spent their careers at the frontier of this field are joining Atrandi – Sam Ropp, PhD as Chief Commercial Officer, and Susan Tousi as Chairman of our Board of Directors.

Sam brings more than two decades of experience building commercial organisations around life science platforms, from early adoption through to global market expansion. He has spent his career at the frontier of single-cell, watching the field evolve and, more importantly, understanding where it has been held back. "Scientists' understanding of single-cell biology has long been constrained by the limitations of existing workflows," he says. "SPC technology unlocks a level of experimental flexibility that scientists simply haven't had with traditional single-cell approaches. Our focus now is building the commercial engine and partnerships that bring that capability to labs around the world."

Both join at a moment when SPC technology is reaching the researchers it was designed for, and when the potential of what can be built with it is only beginning to come into focus.

Susan brings over 30 years across genomics, diagnostics, imaging, and biotechnology, including senior leadership at Illumina and her current role as CEO of Delfi Diagnostics. She is a member of the National Academy of Engineers and one of the most experienced voices in translating genomic technology from the lab into clinical and commercial reality. "The demand for more flexible and scalable single-cell analysis technologies continues to grow globally, and Atrandi's proprietary SPC technology offers significant advantages over existing droplet-based and other single-cell analysis platforms. I look forward to helping Atrandi translate its technological leadership into broader adoption across research and translational applications."

As Juozas Nainys, PhD, our CEO and co-founder, put it: "Atrandi was built by scientists for scientists. Everything we do comes back to that – giving researchers the tools to ask questions they could not ask before, and to find answers that matter. We are here to enable that. That is what drives us."

Single-cell biology has never had better questions to ask. Our job is to make sure it has the tools to answer them.
